Title: Accounting/Claims Examiner - Guy Carpenter - Minneapolis,MN Location: Minnesota Responsibilities & Duties: * Analyzes, interprets and applies the terms and conditions of complex reinsurance contracts. * Examines and evaluates case facts and pertinent claim information to verify and comply with various reinsurance agreements. * Prepares required documentation for brokers or reinsurers to inform them of reinsurance reserves or payments due. * Ensures application of accurate computations and timely notification or billings to brokers or reinsurers. * Checks reinsurance contracts for special clauses and obtains claim documentation to meet contractual reporting requirements. * Faciliates and expedites collection of payments from reinsurers. Develops collection strategies with colleagues. Requirements: * Communication Skills: demonstrated ability to express and articulate oneself verbally and demonstrated experience composing and editing business correspondence, including ability to express abstract concepts and technical information in concise written form. Demonstrated negotiation skills, on the telephone, in writing and in person, ability to effectively conduct meetings and make presentations, ability to visit reinsurers, clients and branches in a confident, professional manner. * Interpersonal Skills: demonstrated successful experience working with others and the public, preferably in a service-oriented enviornment, ability to work cooperative in a team environment, ability to work with clients, reinsurers, and colleagues in a professional and diplomatic manner, always projecting a professional corporate image, ability to handle conflicts and problems in a professional, constructive manner. * Organizational Skills: ability to organize and prioritize work follow instructions, both written and oral, organize and prioritize work, work effectively under time and volume pressures, ability to handle heavy workload and related high stress in a high production environment, flexibility to meet changing overtime requirements. * Math Skills: demonstrated advanced calculating skills; ability to accurately complete complex calculations and interpret those calculations effectively to other parties, both in written and oral form. * Analytical Skills: ability to work with close attention to detail, ability to identify and troubleshoot problems, research skills with the ability to analyze data and extract and organize specific information and reach logical conclusions * Technical Skills: demonstrated PC experience using programs that include but are not limited to Lotus Notes, MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. * Judgment and Initiative: ability to make sound judgments independently, knowing when to bring situations to the attention of management, shows an appropriate degree of self-motivation, resourcefulness and independent action. * Travel: Required for position Education/Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in a related field. * Four to seven years of progressive claims or industry experience. * An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the required training and experience.
