Job Description
Position Overview: Serves as integral member of the underwriting team fulfilling basic underwriting responsibilities, providing day to day agent servicing including underwriting issues, and managing workflow to ensure the agent has a superior experience. This role allows field underwriters to focus on agency relationships, business development and ongoing development of talent pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite less complex renewal book; underwrite less complex new business within level of authority
- Data analysis / Documentation: - Account preparation: collection/analysis of data, line guide, reinsurance, and authority and referral requirements - Analysis work on new business: prepare analysis of exposure and present to Underwriter. Based on analysis of account, verify that all necessary documentation in the file. - Renewal prep including determining need for and requesting additional info from agents; - review information, verify that all necessary documentation in the file.
- Analyze case, present solutions for rush requests for new business and endorsements
- Provide basic coverage interpretations and advise on additional coverage needs
- Responding to account inquiries such as account status and billing issues
- Maintain reporting policies
- Manage account information: ensure accuracy of input into all appropriate systems
- Facilitate transfer of files to Marine Tech for issuance
- Analyze data and prepare underwriting recommendations
Position Requirements
- Associates Degree or equivalent
- 2+ Years of related insurance experience
- Fundamental underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
- Robust functional knowledge of product offerings and solid business acumen
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Comprehensive understanding of Marine systems and workflows
