Claims Supervisor, Property Damage

The Claims Supervisor PD, will oversee the operation of a unit of claim representatives with varying levels of experience who handle first and third party property claims. The ideal candidate will be familiar with comparative negligence and current state and federal regulatory laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs and controls the work of Claims Representatives. Establishes unit goals for service, production and work quality. Monitors established unit goal achievement.
• Plans unit workflow. Monitors assignment of claims to unit members based on complexity, severity, and volume.
• Continually promotes teamwork through effective leadership.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task.
• Must posses strong critical thinking skills, the ability to exercise independent judgment and the ability to problem solve effectively.
• Reviews active and closed files in compliance with Quality Assurance program to identify trends, provide direction, and provide feedback to unit. Provides Management with monthly analysis of quality trends and performance of claims associates. Prepares DSS analysis for property unit.
• Conducts training on a group and individual basis on all aspects of the job.
• Reviews and approves settlements that exceed staff authority levels.
• Conducts performance reviews and counseling sessions. Monitors attendance, Writes performance appraisals.
• Makes recommendations for promotions, staff changes, and salary.
• Candidate must have a working knowledge of claim applications, including Image Right, CWS, and the Microsoft Office Suite of products.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• A Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from an accredited four year college or university; OR
• 3 to 4 years related experience and/or training which MUST include casualty and prior experience supervising a claims team; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience (including casualty and supervision).
