* In this critical role, the successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of accomplishments in the following areas:

* Ensure that enterprise architectures are developed, maintained and integrated with the process of strategy development and architecture planning aligned with corporate and business goals in mind.

* Through independent R&D, define strategic business direction tied to technology. Work in collaboration with executive and business management as well as with development teams tied to projects, identify new products and techniques that will improve our quality and timeliness.

* Own R&D related to products, tools, methodologies, Best Practices for EA and techniques.

* Ensure the alignment of architectural designs of the organization and its information systems with the organizations business objectives.

* Convey common technology vision between IT and Business units

* Identify areas to increase operational efficiencies through reuse

* Realize the benefits of integrated enterprise knowledge and evangelize the portfolio of technologies

* Focus on flexibility to increase business solution capabilities
and time to market.

* Define, set,own and enforce standards for tools, techniques and methodology for our strategic technologies; maintain up-to-date standards repository; provide some oversight in standards adherence through reviews of project work.

* Function as steward of our migration toward BCBSMA's approved architectural directions, ensuring that project teams understand and utilize concepts of reuse and services.

* Support and maintain our repository of reusable components, providing consulting to project teams on the availability and use of these components.

* Publish and maintain documentation to be used by application development teams

* Lead in the development and on-going maintenance of the EA

* Framework including technical, application, information, security and infrastructure strategies.

* Conduct interviews with business unites to determine needs.

* Maintain close working relationships with executives and business management to understand corporate and architecture goals and requirements.

* Facilitate development team, Architect Forums, and other groups where standards can be discussed and decisions made.

* Foster collaboration in discussing and vetting out viable enterprise solutions based on multiple technology solutions.
Communicate and promote the referential architecture to projects.

* Work with delivery architects that are building out
or enhancing applications that will make use of our integration architecture, to provide mentorship, collaborate on the use of tools and methodology, and to share expertise
Experience and Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 10 plus years of experience as an IT Architect.

* Proficient in architecture modeling, integration, practices, governance and reference patterns.

* Thorough enterprise perspective and knowledge.

* Knowledge and understanding of the business as a whole, product knowledge is a plus.

* Knowledge and understanding of conceptual architectures. (Web,Client-server,Real-time Integration, and SOA).

* In depth understanding of enterprise architecture standards and the demonstrate ability to advocate and enforce their use.

* Ability to see IT patterns and apply industry and internal patterns in solution delivery.

* Knowledge and understanding of prevailing methodologies. (OOAD, RUP).

* Knowledge and understanding of the business implications of introducing (or displacing) solutions.

* Broad-based knowledge of the IT industry and trends.

* Ability to execute and get things done.

* Excellent consulting and influencing skills.

* Formal and informal leadership skills.

* Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, presentation.

* Ability to mentor. Ability to balance financial; architectural; business and IS objectives.

* Excellent collaboration skills (with other architects, analysts, managers, business).

* Change agent.

* Critical thinking.

* Certification or experience with TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF, COBIT, ITIL or Gartner Framework a plus.
