Scope Statement The Group Sales Representative markets and sells a line of group benefit products within the Québec region. The incumbent is guided by defined procedural constraints and works under the moderate supervision of a Group Sales Director. Impact Statement • Builds and maintains strong producer relationships • Achieves sales objectives and ensures that acquisition and retention goals are met • Provides direct support to clients and producers Responsibilities Include • Conducts daily proactive sales/service/renewal meetings with agents, brokers and clients in an assigned region to develop new business and assist in the retention and renewal of existing business • Negotiates product pricing with producer/client with defined parameters • Resolves producer/policyholder/plan member problems • Develops and makes product presentations for the sales process • Maintains existing and develops new producer relationships • Responsible for marketing and servicing the small group benefit product lines • Assists the Group Sales Director in the development and implementation of a regional sales business plan ________________________________________ Knowledge / Experience / Certification • 3 – 5 years work experience in insurance/financial services industry • Experience working in employee benefits with selling/underwriting/servicing • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet and database software • Knowledge of group insurance product and policy provisions • Knowledge of the group insurance products and sales activities of competitors • Knowledge of employment legislation as it relates to employee benefits • GBA Education / Professional Courses • Completion of a university degree with courses in business administration, marketing, sales management, consumer behaviour and marketing communications Key Skills • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships • Perseverance, patience and self-motivation • Ability to think logically, analyze and solve problems • Well-developed communication, negotiation, persuasion and presentation skills • Well-developed sales and marketing skills • Ability to communicate information clearly to diverse audiences Key Competencies • Customer/Advisor Orientation: Understands the customer’s business environment • Business Knowledge: Demonstrates solid levels of industry awareness, operating policies and practices • Initiative: Recognizes and acts upon present opportunities, or addresses present challenges Working Conditions • Frequent travel • Frequent interruptions • Prolonged periods of concentration and attention to detail • May be required to work extended hours to support sales requirements Interactions • Employees and management on a local and national basis • Producers (consultant, broker, advisor, or agent), policyholders, and plan administrators
