- Work with the three commercial teams in SSM on the broad scale Secondary packaging quality initiative. Total Secondary packaging beverage packaging category ~ $1+B in spend. These categories include paperboard wraps, registered shrink wrap and corrugated. - Manage 10 different packaging suppliers quality control programs across 23 producing sites - Be a resource to the 100+ bottling plants to insure they are educated on perfect Secondary packaging quality requirements from suppliers - Coordinate Secondary packaging quality program across QTG, FLNA and PBNA/PCNA to insure best practices are used from all divisions and quality is consistent across all beverages. - Develop best practices via benchmarking leading CPGs companies and other PepsiCo divisions in the area of Secondary packaging quality. Work with SSM Commercial teams, packaging suppliers, R&D, Marketing and Operations to implement these best practices. - Develop and maintain a third party auditing program to supplement supplier quality programs - Lead the Secondary packaging quality efforts with all packaging suppliers. Maintain internal data base with all supplier data in order to track trends and proactively manage issues. - Ensure consistency in QA/QC procedures in Secondary packaging quality and across the supply base through the identification of key metrics and the maintenance of ongoing scorecards for each Primary package. - Develop standard procedures for QA/QC for incoming inspection for Secondary packaging materials at bottling plants and at sales distribution locations. Work with PCNA/PBNA operations to implement - Work with cross functional teams in Manufacturing, R&D, and Marketing to develop and implement packaging specifications and QC/QA procedures across the entire value chain, including suppliers' plants, in order to significantly improve the quality and on-shelf execution of our beverage packaging. - Develop robust and standardized QA/QC procedures and standards for suppliers in the secondary packaging industries. - Develop appropriate measurement tools and processes to monitor, report and improve supplier delivered Secondary packaging quality - Work with suppliers to use enhanced methods to specify and measure Secondary packaging quality - Liaise with marketing to ensure expectations are met in new Secondary packaging innovations. Insure plans properly formulated - Develop internal capability to be able to test packaging as needed - The incumbent must accomplish their objectives through influence of suppliers and internal partners - This position supports all PCNA, PBNA and must collaborate with QTG and FLNA to insure consistency in all quality processes. - This position will interface with President and Vice President levels of suppliers and with Vice President, Director and Manager levels within PepsiCo
Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in engineering, science or quality assurance - Working knowledge of quality assurance - 10+ years in consumer goods industry. - Strong interpersonal skills - Strong team leadership skills - Learning and understanding all of the critical packaging industries: Paperboard wraps, registered shrink wrap, corrugated. Based on this understanding, the incumbent must know the manufacturing operations for the suppliers, their capability and quality control programs in order to effectively implement the required quality standards. - The incumbent must also have complete understanding of the opportunities of all categories in order to work with suppliers on the design of their quality programs and ultimately improve the quality scores. - This position provides PepsiCo with the leadership to all of the industries listed above in the area of quality assurance of Secondary packaging. - This position is unique in terms of the breadth of knowledge required in many technical categories: manufacturing systems across multiple packaging categories, and various methods of measuring Secondary packaging quality
