Project - Network Communications Analyst (Sports Media/Graphics/Web/IT)The Network Communications Analyst is a skilled contributor with strong technical, analytical and communication skills who enjoys working in a fast paced technologically advanced environment. Primary responsibilities include supporting a vast array of networking technologies, equipment configurations, deployments, and administration of networking systems including routers, switches, wireless technologies, VPN concentrators, multiplexors, and WAN optimization appliances. The candidate will have ownership of all assigned Special Projects supporting Remote Events, Broadcast Networks, and Corporate networks. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and resolve complex network problems, program complex network device configurations, and communicate effectively with all related support teams and customers.
This is a project position with an estimated length of 2.5 years.
Responsibilities
Technical lead for all assigned Special Projects supporting our enterprise, broadcast, & remote event networks. Support and program complex network features and configurations, provide ongoing troubleshooting, recover from network outages and/or qualify performance problems. Manage complex projects and assure service levels are achieved and operational targets are reached. Follow network hardware/software/configuration standards, deployment check points, and department policies. Monitor and oversee network performance and capacity on a daily basis ensuring network performance benchmarks are being met. Provides network problem troubleshooting support and on-call support as required. Analyze and recommend network upgrades, hardware, software and processes that will enhance network performance, reliability and support capabilities. Evaluate new vendor products and technologies to determine potential impact on and usefulness to our existing network configurations. Work closely with Network Architects to ensure network design documentation is accurate. Provide written documentation for all implemented network changes. Review network problems with senior staff on a daily basis and determine corrective actions. Support off-hour network implementation changes and be responsible to execute project plans, document work, and show results.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 4 years' experience in Network Communications or in a related subject matter field. Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting advanced Cisco networking technologies. Knowledge of Ethernet, Structured Wiring Systems, Aruba/Aerohive Wireless technologies, TCP/IP, Microsoft Protocols, Routers, Network Analyzers, Network Management tools, CWDM, MPLS, VPLS, Frame Relay, VPLS, Protocol Analysis, BGP, OSPF, Access Control Lists, Netflow, and Configuration Management tools. Hands on experience with Cisco hardware such as Nexus switches, 6500 series switches, 3800 & 3900 series routers, C class blade switches, 3750 stackables, wireless controllers, and ACS. Understanding of Riverbed Steelhead WAN optimization technologies. Knowledge of UNIX, Windows, and the networking capabilities of each of those systems. Knowledge of CA Spectrum Network Management Systems, Solarwinds Orion, Riverbed Cascade, and NI Observer & Gigastore products. Works well independently or within a team. Strong interpersonal skills needed to interact with customers and team members. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands on experience with Force10 and Extreme Networking Technologies. Scripting and automation skills using Perl, Tcl, Java, Bourne shell, VBScript or other is a plus. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Background in network security systems and technologies. Project management skills.
Preferred Education
Current Industry level industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or similar. ITIL Foundations Certification.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
