REGIONAL SALES MANAGER, Agency Sales
Basic Function
Consults, trains and provides expertise to Agency Sales field managers and sales agents to contribute to increased company sales, agent recruiting/retention goals, sales management development and division profitability.
Essential Job Functions
1. Designs, implements and facilitates all sales training activities in the field and in applicable home office schools to develop field management and sales agents. Travels to Agency Sales Division Offices to implement and train on company approved sales practices and products including: * Key product areas * Field underwriting techniques (financial & medical) * Prospecting skills * Fact finding techniques * General sales techniques * Presentation & closing skills * Client relationship building techniques 2. Consults with Agency Sales field management to ensure that recruiting objectives are met by implementing and maintaining field recruiting, selection and retention programs for agents. Guides field management on new methods of agent recruiting, providing input related to specific recruiting issues for each demographic area independently. Partners with field management in agent recruiting activities to include career fairs, conducting college visits, establishing centers of influence, & attending professional and civic events to establish networks.
3. Works directly with Agency Sales Division field sales agents on field calls observing and evaluating sales techniques. Provides guidance, feedback and recommendations for effective sales skills.
4. Initiates and maintains strong working relationships and credibility with the Agency Sales field division office management and sales agents. May function in direct sales role to remain current on company products and sales techniques. Consults and advises agency management on options for handling agency business challenges as a supplement to the formal training courses utilizing current, competitive industry resources.
5. Develops course materials for e-learning, distance learning workshops, classroom presentations, one on one training or a combination of these techniques. Develops and maintains assigned program materials such as agendas, instructional notes, student notebooks, and audiovisual presentation aids. Researches and develops new training and educational programs to meet Agency Sales field division office needs. Applies evaluation, research and analysis techniques to assess the effectiveness of current and proposed training programs.
Minimum Job Requirements * Seasoned experience in sales and sales management * Working knowledge of agency distribution sales and marketing strategies and general business operations * Demonstrated thorough knowledge of agency management principles * Prior experience in training course development, delivery and follow up analysis of training results * Thorough knowledge of sales recruiting, selection and retention procedures and guidelines * Ability to verbally communicate and translate complicated technical concepts into simple, understandable terms * Excellent human relations, communication, classroom presentation and creative/technical writing skills * Ability to travel approximately 80% of the work period * Previous management and insurance or financial service sales experience preferred Physical Requirements for the Essential Job Functions * Key-boarding/Writing/Pinching (working primarily with fingers) 1-33% of the time * Handling (working primarily with hands such as grasping, turning, sorting) 1-33% of the time * Reaching above shoulder(s) 1-33% of the time * Sitting 1-33% of the time * Standing/Walking 34-66% of the time * Bending/Stooping 1-33% of the time * Talking (required use of voice) > 66% of the time * Near Vision - Visual Acuity at 20 inches or less 1-33% of the time * Far Vision - Visual Acuity at 20 feet or more > 66% of the time * Hearing 34-66% of the time * Travel > 66% of the time * Lifting/Carrying at 10-19 lbs, 1-32 reps per day / or 1-33% * Pushing/Pulling at 10-19 lbs, 1-32 reps per day / or 1-33% Mutual of Omaha is an Equal Opportunity Employer
