Job Description: Summary of Responsibilities
Handle all losses assigned with minimal supervision and guidance from the manager. Handle claims in the moderate to complex severity range. Make use of all available resources to research and formulate decisions on coverage and law issues, conduct thorough investigations, evaluate damages and liability, and negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants and attorneys. Other responsibilities include effective reserving practices, monitoring file activity with a diary system, presentation of claim files to the claim committee, and participating in and/or leading training activities. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Do on-site investigations and meetings. Attend mediations. May fill in for the manager when gone. Oversee outside attorneys handling litigated files. Mentor newer associates.
Preferred Experience and Skills
* Basic knowledge of personal computers
* Interpersonal skills
* Negotiation and problem solving skills
* 5 years experience in claims handling
Preferred Education and Training
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance or related field
* CPCU 551, 552, 520
